METALAXYL

A. Physical and chemical properties: Structural Formula:
Chemical Name:Methyl N-(2-methoxyacetyl)-N-(2,6-xylyl)-DL-alaninate
Empirical Formula:
Melting point: 71.8~72.3℃
Vapor pressure: 0.293 mPa at 20℃
Corrosive properties:Corrosive to steel.
Solubility:In water at 20℃ 7.1 g/l. In dichloro-methane 750, methanol 650, benzene 550, isopropanol 270, n-octanol 130, hexane 9.1(all in g/l at 20℃.

◆ Application:
Systemic fungicide with protective and curative action, absorbed through the leaves, stem, and roots. Control of foliar and soil-borne diseases caused by Peronosporales on a wide range of crops. Examples of use include control of late blight of potatoes; downy mildew on hops, vines, etc.; and red core on strawberries. Also used on peas, spinach, beet, sunflowers, maize, sorghum, capsicums, vegetables, citrus fruit, avocados, tulips, turf, cotton, etc. Also used as a seed treatment for a number of crops, for control of damping-off (Pythium spp.) and peronosporaceae. Rate: 0.5-1.2 kg a.i./ha
